I seek advice from smarter people than me...

Could a modern Camery or Corolla provide a donor motor / tranny that would mount in the same way as the older 3S-GE or 5F-SE?
Using a newer drivetrain that offers friendlier "daily driver" features is very appealing to a Los Angeles motorist.
Looking for any advice or insight that can be offered.

Anything is possible with the right amount of ability or money. There is a recent build where a Tesla system was installed in a K1. It isn't drop-in though. The most adaptable engines are from Honda because there are a number of adapter kits out there for swapping in, for example, K series engines.
