Sorry Alan, no offense intended . I always appreciate your knowledge here, and I didn't know you responded until after I posted my comment.

Thanks to everybody regarding these posts! I am happy to see there are several active members here. If this sale goes through I'll be a pretty active member. You can see some of my participation and desire to help fellow members with my old project, my 3rd gen Rx-7.

Anyway I am wary of not being able to title this car but it sounds like I will be in the same boat as many of you. I currently have a call in to a titling specialist company and hope to learn about possible ways to get it titled legally but without documents. I mean there has to be ways for things like abandoned kits or just lost documents. I mean it is a stinkin piece of paper. What if it gets lost or otherwise damaged by fire or water like a flooded basement? The DMV has to have allowances for such situations.

Was this provided by K1? It appears to be a document that was generated in the US.

Then it appears I'll be having some trouble titling and registering the car as well. I was mistakenly under the impression the stamped portion of the invoice was the necessary item.

I asked the original buyer of the kit I purchased second-hand, if there were any other documents with the car. He said there were not. Is it possible that this document wasn't included with some kits? as I understood that Russell (gripmotorsports) does not have this doc either.

This is a fine surprise for me too. I am very close to trailering the Attack to the motor vehicle inspection station, and it would be embarrassing to find out then that a critical document is missing.

Jeff from the many people that ive talked to in AZ they all seem to say that it is extremely easy to register pretty much anything in the state of AZ. They told me the main things to worry about were receipts showing you paid for it and the parts arent stolen and just make sure its street legal which isnt very difficult on a kit car. I bought a trailer from out of state that had to goto level 3 inspection but since the VIN was on a sticker that was half rubbed off they made me pay $10 and they put on a new vin plate and registered it. Obviously a car is different but from what i read online we have some of the most lenient rules at our mvd. So once we have a title here then we can just transfer it to another state if we ever move.

Hi Russell, I'm hoping you are right. I went to the MVD office on Greenfield Rd in Mesa yesterday, and was sent to a fellow over in the enforcement division. He stated that I had to have the car inspected by an importer (a private company performing a quasi private/governmental task to ensure the car conforms to DOT requirements. To make matters worse, when I asked him for a referral, he came back with a web printed list of companies, and none (ZERO) were in AZ. WTF? (in kinder words) I asked him, and he basically blew me off.

Anyway, I left the MVD enforcement facility no better informed than when I arrived. I have a call into Jean Agan's office (AZ MVD Director) requesting some answers on exactly what I need to do. I'll post the results in a followup.

Russell; I received an answer. Ouch. Look at the last bullet in the list at the link below. This might hurt a little.

ok sounds like you are a bit more into the process than me. Hopefully it doesnt require an out of state trip just for inspection that would be terrible. Well my attack is now in a storage unit so not like Ill need to worry about this anytime soon.

Wow, I guess I shouldn't complain about CA DMV . I registered it SB100. They only give out 500 of these in the whole state a year so you have to get there early. I just took them all the paperwork and receipts and it was pretty straight forward. I have not done a physical inspection of the vehicle yet though, so maybe I shouldn't get too happy just yet. Good luck in AZ Jeff.

Hey OB1,
Do you still have an Attack Kit for sale from your previous Post?

So last night I took delivery of my K1 Attack. It looks like that at some point somebody was trying to copy the car because there is a fiberglass mold of nearly every part. I guess if I ever get it finished and have a fender bender I'll have an easy time with the repair.

So the kit is 1/2 built but I'm still assesing what may be wrong with what was done so far. I also have many random parts in boxes. I don't even know where to start. Its very overwhelming.

Hey Alan,

Any chance you can help with a Certificate of Origin for kit #41? Was this one of the kits you sold?

You should have an original bill of sale. Otherwise I can't help.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

BTW I finally finished reading the entire General section. I'm really sorry things didn't work out because you would have made a great business owner for the K1 brand. Well no need to dig up that old junk.
